Dr. Eric L. Davis co-founded Life Recovery Center in 2004 and serves as Executive Director. He has worked in the field of mental health and addiction treatment for over 25 years. He provides therapy from a holistic perspective, noting the importance of integrally addressing the needs of mind, body, and spirit in a successful recovery program. A devoted lifelong learner, his areas of professional interest include substance use disorders and problem gambling, counselor education and supervision, domestic violence and abuse intervention, trauma-informed care, and forensic social work.
Eric is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Clinical Addiction Counselor (LCAC), International Certified Gambling Counselor (ICGC-II), Board-Approved Clinical Consultant (BACC), and ICADV-Certified Domestic Violence Batterers Intervention Program Senior Facilitator (BIP-SF). He obtained his Doctor of Social Work (DSW) from Barry University, Master of Social Work (MSW) from Indiana University, and Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) from the University of Indianapolis. He also holds advanced international certifications in addiction counseling, gambling counseling, clinical consultation, and Christian counseling. He was ordained into Christian ministry on March 22, 2009, and is happy to offer Christian counseling upon client request.
Eric is the author of The Bible and Addiction Recovery, and has contributed articles to national magazines. Eric has appeared as a clinical expert on Fox 59, Sky News and other television outlets, on the radio and podcasts, and in the Indianapolis Star, USA Today, and the NY Daily News. He is a regular trainer for the Indiana Office of Court Services., and has presented at numerous professional conferences, universities, churches, courts, probation offices, hospitals, and treatment facilities. He was also the the Keynote Speaker for the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling's 2023 Fall Conference.
​Always involved and passionate about mental health and addiction recovery, Eric served as Chairman of Mental Health America of Indiana's board of directors from 2022-2024. He also served three terms as President of ICAADA: The Association for Behavioral Health Professionals, from 2014-2016 and another two terms from 2018-2022. During his tenure as ICAADA President, Eric was integral in the creation of the BCPG (Board-Certified in Problem Gambling), a state-recognized credential in the treatment of problem gambling for behavioral health professionals. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Indiana Counseling Association from 2016-2021.
Eric also serves on the Boards of Directors of the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the Indiana Council on Problem Gambling. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers and a charter member of the American Association of Christian Counselors.
In 2015, Eric was appointed by former Vice President of the United States Mike Pence (then Governor) to the State of Indiana's Domestic Violence Prevention and Treatment Council (DVPT). Later that same year, he was named "Outstanding Batterers Intervention Professional of 2015"Â by the Indiana Coalition Against Domestic Violence. The following year, he was named "Outstanding Community Partner of 2016"Â by the Phylis Lan Lin Department of Social Work at the University of Indianapolis for his work at Life Recovery Center.
In addition to his work as a clinician, Eric teaches for the Indiana University School of Social Work at IU Indy. He is also a professional musician (drummer, guitarist, and vocalist) who enjoys writing, recording, and performing music.
