Within minutes I knew that I had found my counselor, which is saying a lot as I've been to several mental health professionals before, and not felt better for it. Eric [Davis] is very laid back, friendly & good-spirited. I didn't feel like he was trying to beat me into optimism with a forced bubbly facade, but he had a genuine smile & interest in helping me. I just had my second session and couldn't be happier. I feel great during & after every session. Eric is the first person with whom I've not felt an apprehension prior to each meeting. I actually look forward to it and I leave with clear steps to take to help myself, and they're working quite well so far. I could be happier, and he's helping me get there.

I'm so excited! I will be graduating from my Life Recovery program. Its been an amazing journey! This journey started when I was strung out on drugs. I was a miserable wreck and didn't know who I was half the time. I remember crying out to God to just take the pain, take my life, to just please help me! Well, he did through the belly of the whale, being the Marion County Jail. I went there for 7 months and was sentenced to DOC for 12 years. They suspended 4 years which gave me 8 do 4. The Judge told me, if I went in and completed a Therapeutic Community, she would consider a modification. So God truly blessed this because, as soon as I went through the intake, I went right in without having to be on a waiting list. This was such a blessing because the waiting list at most places was normally months! So I'm thinking, I'm going to just get through this program, be done with it, and put all this behind me. Well, it wasn't that easy. This program was hard! Oh my gosh! It was making me deal with things that had been keeping me down for years and I didn’t like it one bit! It broke me down, all the way down. So I'm dealing with all these emotions, feelings, and hurt, completely sober, thinking "what am I to do?" and the good news was they had the answers. They showed me what to do, how to deal with all the emotions, of anger and hurt. I started getting better. My husband started seeing and hearing it in my voice and for the first time in my life, I was feeling a little bit of peace! After 9 intense months, I graduated and modified out thanks to the help of Dr. Davis. He is an amazing therapist and owner of Life Recovery Center. He went to bat for me with my judge. I thank him so much. He spoke with her, set me up on 9 months of classes, and it’s been such a great experience for me. I thank God for allowing me to be a client of Dr. Davis' as he has taught me so much! I feel so blessed right now this is such an exciting time for me in my life. I've never completed anything and tomorrow getting my certificate of completion is a HUGE accomplishment!
